There is something for everyone in our surroundings, from a leisurely stroll to a summit climb. All times are approximate. We are happy to advise you at breakfast on weather, trails and refreshments.
Mühlbach valley near Gais
A pleasant walk on trail no. 2, a wide forest road to the Huber hut at 1,854 m in the Rieserferner-Ahrn nature park. If you want more, continue past the valley’s huts to the Oberwanger hut (2,030 m): 8.3 km, about 2 h 35 and +432 m. In winter a toboggan run leads down from here.

A sunny hut in the Weissenbach valley, a side valley of the Ahrntal. The trail can even be managed with a pushchair. Up top you will find South Tyrolean cooking, a playground and a petting zoo. Closed on Wednesdays according to the listing: please check in advance.

A very easy walk, ideal for families and doable with a pushchair: from the visitor centre in Kasern past the Heilig-Geist church to the hut at 1,700 m, with a playground.

Well-secured paths with steps, bridges and viewing platforms pass three waterfalls up to the Tobelburg ruin. Sure-footedness is needed; a great outing for families with mountain experience.

A circuit around the turquoise mountain lake on wooden boardwalks over streams, with information boards on the Rieserferner-Ahrn nature park. In winter the valley hosts the biathlon World Cup.

The alpine tour to 2,619 m for experienced, sure-footed hikers with good fitness: stamina and technique are demanded, and the summit of the village’s own mountain is yours.

Cycle routes right in front of the house lead over paved farm tracks, through forests and up to mountains and alpine pastures: from easy, flat rides to very demanding tours with lots of climbing. Downhill trails are available too. Bike hire is available in the very next village, Mühlen in Taufers, and also in Sand in Taufers and Bruneck. For your own bikes we have a large garage where they are kept safe.

Even in rain and snow there is plenty to discover: museums, a large castle and the town of Bruneck.

In Bruneck Castle the museum shows the heritage and cultures of mountain peoples, including Sherpa, Tibetans, Mongols and Hunza.

Südtirol Guest Pass
The South Tyrol Guest Pass is included with your stay: you receive it at check-in and travel free by bus and train all over South Tyrol, in summer and in winter. The bus stop is just a one-minute walk from the house.
